Dressed in her bright red and gold bridal finery the beautiful bride was the centre of attraction. Her father stood beside her to greet the guests, but I could see from his face that he was feeling emotional at the thought of giving away his precious girl on her wedding day. I noticed a slender hand reaching up and wrapping itself around his shoulder, offering reassurance that everything would be all right. I saw that it belonged to a lovely young lady who resembled the bride. She must be the younger sister; I thought.
Wearing a stunning emerald green Kanchipuram silk saree that was exquisite, yet understated, it was almost as if she has picked the saree with the utmost care to ensure that she would not outshine her dear sister on the most important day of her life.
Whether or not she had succeeded was debatable! I for one could not peel my eyes away from admiring the beautiful cutwork embroidery and the multi-hued tissue applique work that was sprinkled all over the saree. Under the soft lights, the deep emerald hue and the muted sheen of the tissue gave her an ethereal glow.
As I looked around the hall trying to see if I could find any familiar faces in the crowd, I realized that I was not the only one who thought she sparkled like a precious gem. She captivated everyone with her beauty!
